Tips for Therapists |
 | General Application Recommendation | |
Size of acupuncture needles:
The size of the acupuncture needles is declared in calibre and length (mm). The most popular needle sizes are:
- For auricular, face and eye acupuncture: 0,20 x 15mm, 0,22 x 13mm
- Small needle sizes for auricular acupuncture: 0,18 x 7mm, 0,18 x 9mm und 0,18 x 13mm
- Special needle sizes for auricular acupuncture by Michael Noack: 0,26 x 13mm, 0,30 x 10mm
Acupuncture needles with copper /silver handle:
In general these needles have a very good electric current and heat conductance. The needles are particularly suitable for moxibustion and electrical stimulation. The needles have to be “peeled” carefully out of the blister package to avoid twisting the flexible coiled handle. Copper and silver handles do not vary in stability.
Acupuncture needles with synthetic handle:
Needles with a synthetic handle are more difficult to twist. Therefore, they are easier to unwrap compared with copper and silver needles. However, synthetic handles are not suitable for electrical stimulation and moxa.
Acupuncture needles with silicone handle:
The silicone coating ensures excellent sliding properties and guarantees even better puncturing with less effort. For this reason, these needles are the best for the treatment of algesic patients and children.
Electrical stimulation (with needles):
The needle's impulse is increased by low and high-frequency during the electrical stimulation treatment. This method is especially recommended for pain treatment and anaesthesia.
Irradiation with the Zhou Lin lamp / TDP lamp:
- No insertion into ski
- Very good for treatment of inflamed skin areas
- Optimal for the treatment of algesic patients and children
- Alternative to moxibustion: the relevant acupuncture points were irradiated directly instead of the diseased section. Patients love the pleasant warm sensation.
Haci acupuncture (Haci five-elements needles)
- Four therapies together: acupuncture, acupressure, cupping and magnetism
- No insertion into skin
- Very suitable for needle-sensitive people and children
Moxibustion:
In moxibustion, the acupuncture points are stimulated by heat. This effect is achieved either by deflagrating the moxa herbs in a special pot directly on the skin or fixing a tiny piece of a moxa role on the acupuncture needle. The heat flux is transmitted through the needle (needlemoxa or needle technique). We advise using special moxa needles with high heat conductance.
Important for beginners:
Needle acupuncture should be administered solely by skilled doctors and “Heilpraktiker”! For beginners, we advise treatment with Haci and electrical acupuncture.
